DOVE FIELDS

Sunflowers were planted very late due to wet weather, and dove use should improve throughout the season as the plants ripen. Two areas of wild millet, wild sunflowers and other annual weeds will be manipulated prior to opening day.

Doves are also attracted to the shallow water areas found on the property.

Field #1 – 16 acre fallow wheat field – From the intersection on Cloud Co. Road 765 and Vale Road between 30th and 40th Rds. Fifteen acres of fallow wheat stubble/weeds will be manipulated. This 240 acre area will be open to Youth & Novice / Mentor hunters only for first day of the season (Sept. 1). Novice hunters are those hunters 17 or younger or any person who has not hunted doves before. Mentors (adults 18 or older) may hunt this area as long as they have at least 1 youth or novice hunter with them. Open to all hunters for the season on September 2.
